The Last Days of 2021
2021 ended the same way it began with beautiful,

| Well it definitely was a different Christmas this year! It started out well with lights and decorations including a new tree but it took a turn when Dennis ended up spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the hospital. We had to call an ambulance the day before after he obviously had internal bleeding. He had severe bloody diarrhea and was vomiting blood. He lost all color in his face and was so weak and dizzy he fell down when he tried to walk. It turned out he had a bleeding stomach ulcer complicated by the blood thinners he is on for his AFib. He had lost enough blood that they gave him a blood transfusion which made him feel well enough to come home on December 26. The doctor told him it was time to toss the Advil! |
We did end up having a small fun family brunch and gift opening on Christmas Day with entertainment by Sydney and Ellery.

And then Stephany was off to the hospital for a visit with a much improved Dennis

We never expected to lose you so soon.
We thought we had more time but the cancer came quickly and then you were gone.
You were the most gentle, sweet dog and you always tried to take such good care
of us.

Brooks Knocks out front teeth In trampoline accident!
He broke the alveolar bone around his two front teeth
and had to have surgery to put a brace on to support
the bone so he could heal
without loosing his teeth. Luckily after six weeks his teeth did stabilize
and he could get the braces off.

The Toomeys have a new aussiedoodle puppy!
Jeremy is a woodworker and loves Koa wood from the Hawaiian Islands so they
named him Koa

Historic Ice Storm
Six and a half days with no power!

Luckily we had a gas stove, a gas fireplace and plenty of
flashlights and lanterns do we were able to cook and stay warm
and have light. It also helped that our cell phones were
working. We had the RV generator and were able to keep the
freezer cold
although we lost the contents of the refrigerator. By the time
the power was restored six and a half days later we were so
relieved! The problem had been that the pole and the transformer
at the bottom of the hill near the cemetery had blown and crews
had to wait for a replacement part. |
